An introduction to this glass screen printing technique using our specialised equipment
Saturday 2 February / Sunday 5 May & Sunday 21 July
10.00 – 16.00 / £80
Artist: Jade Tapson
This one day course offers participants a comprehensive introduction into screen printing onto glass. Through a combination of demonstrations and practical application you will learn how to select suitable imagery, coat a screen with photosensitive emulsion, screen-printing techniques, suitable enamels to kiln firing cycles and how to fuse the printed layers of glass together.
Participants will choose from a selection of pre-prepared images to create a 20x15cm print as well as making a series of four 10x10cm prints using their own line drawings. By the end of the course participants will have gained a good understanding of screen-printing onto glass and details of the types of equipment and materials required.
In preparation for the workshop, spend some time collecting a couple of high contrast black and white images that could be used to create your own line drawings, which will be transferred on to acetate. Please bring any imagery you wish to reference printed on paper ready for the workshop. Alternatively please email them as digital jpeg files a week before the course to firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: Please wear warm clothing as the workshop area can get quite cold and draughty in winter.
